However, very little or nothing is known about most of them. «Յոբելեան փող», «աւագափող» and «ազգավարութենէս փող», have been considered ancient Armenian instruments for a long time. This may be because the names are made up of Armenian forms, they are not transliterations of the original names. The paper, discusses the names of three instruments, which were first mentioned in the Armenian translation of the Bible. The author argues that these instruments were not traditional Armenian musical instruments. Rather they are translations of the original Hebrew words for the ritual horn shofar, the great shofar and the silver trumpet hatsotsrah.
