The community grew due to Armenians fleeing the persecution and massacres they faced in the mid-1890s (the Hamidian massacres), and in 1909 (Cilician massacres), as well as the Genocide and the fall of Smyrna (1915-1922). The community’s numbers decreased as of the late 1940s due to repatriation and emigration to the West. The disintegration of the Soviet Union and the economic difficulties in the newly proclaimed Republic of Armenia generated an influx of ex-Soviet Armenians to Thessaloniki, who outnumbered the local Armenians. The paper maps the organized structure of the community, its relations with both its environment and the other Armenian subgroups of Greece as well as its transnational relations with the Armenian communities of the Balkan states. The paper focuses on the current concerns and challenges of the community, particularly on mixed marriage, integration of the incoming Armenians and matters of identity.Թեսաղոնիկէի (Սալոնիկ) հայօճախը 1990-2017 շրջանին
