As a determined editor and prose writer, Arpiarian advocated the realistic approach to literature and the use of ashkharabar, as the best means to reach the common people. In spite of persisting «Old Armenian» elements in his diction, Arpiarian through his new words, new style and use of conversational Armenian, popularized and greatly contributed to the sound establishment of the Western Armenian dialect.
