Abstract
The development of economic ties and the promotion of cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran in various fields stems from the two sides' strategic, political and economic interests. This political direction has a vital importance, if we take into consideration the geopolitical and strategic situation and the region in which the RA and the IRI are located.
The deepening of cooperation between Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan in the post-Soviet era, in the 2000's and today has a certain impact on developments in the South Caucasus. All this in turn affects the national security of the Republic of Armenia. The form of the three neighboring states' cooperation in the region excludes only Armenia, as a result of which Armenian interests are ignored in the South Caucasus. Under these conditions, Iran's policy towards Armenia obtains special importance.
The article presents issues related to the beginning of new Iranian investments in the Republic of Armenia as well as new spheres of cooperation between provinces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the regions of the Republic of Armenia. Also discussed are prospective directions of bilateral development.
