Abstract
After the Armenian Genocide at the start of the twentieth century, Armenians dispersed across the world. They settled in France from 1923. This presentation studies the five generations of Armenians who have followed one after the other in France since that date.
Each of these five generations has faced the question of adaptation to their new country. In the beginning, it was very difficult for the first generation to get used to their new life.
The following generations gradually found their place in French society. The question remains open today: Can we, 100 years later, continue to keep our Armenian identity? Can we have a double culture? Should we completely eliminate our origins to better integrate? It is a great challenge and answers may be different. However, it is certain that the Armenian Diaspora needs to ask the right questions to live in harmony where they are, while developing their ties and cooperation with Armenia.
