| dc.description.abstract | Igna Sariaslan's poetry is remarkable in both modern Istanbul Armenian and contemporary Armenian literature. In his poetry books, namely Lo (1974), Karasempag Serov (With Quadrupled Love, 1994), Siro Kuyne (Color of Love, 1998) and Tebi Horizon (To the Horizon, 2016), Sariaslan draws, on the one hand, on the poetic traditions of classical Armenian poetry, and on the other comes closer to the innovative Armenian poetry school of Istanbul known as "Subjective Symbolism", mostly developed by Zahrad and Zareh Khrakhouni during the 1940s. However, unlike that of the above-mentioned poets, Sariaslan's poetry is underpinned by lyrical tone, which run alongside other moods of love, and universal themes - a unique feature of Sariaslan's poetry. | |
