Հայոց ցեղասպանութեան հարցով Ռ.Թ. Էրդողանի քաղաքականութիւնը (2014-9)

Abstract
On the basis of Turkish media publications, the author reconstructs the Turkish state policy regarding the Armenian Genocide as reflected through the declarations of PM and then President Recep Tayip Erdogan, between 2014 and 2019. The study argues that in his last year of office as PM and during his presidential term, Mr. Erdogan continued the traditional denialist policy of the Turkish state. Indeed, through minor shifts in the wording, harsh rejection was replaced by subtle, discrete rejection. However, the denialist content was maintained. Nevertheless, Erdogan, in his position as PM and president, is the first in the history of Turkey who has dared to send a condolence message to the Armenians. Moreover, during his term of office the Armenian Genocide taboo has been broken. Having said that, and considering the traditional Turkish denialist policy, Turkish attitudes, the positions of the majority of Turkish political forces, and the backdrop of the current regional developments, the author infers that Ankara will maintain its rejectionist policy in the coming years.
