This was the period when Armenian musical instruments appear. b) Studies in the 4ᵗʰ–10ᵗʰ centuries (early medieval period), including the establishment and development of Armenian music, starting with Mesrop mashdots until Anania Naregatsi. c) Studies in the 10ᵗʰ–15ᵗʰ centuries (the medieval period), including Krikor Naregatsi, Nerses Shnorhali until Hovhannes Yerzengatsi and Hovhannes Telgurantsi and the initiation of worldly music. d) Studies in the 15ᵗʰ–18ᵗʰ centuries (late medieval period), which includes the spreading of popular Armenian music and its differentiation from church music and the significant contribution Tahmizian had in decoding and interpreting the Khazes, the Armenian notes.
