Abstract
The article presents a brief history of the museum, which was launched in 1931, then relocated to the Iranian mosque (known as the sky mosque) constructed in the 17' century and eventually to the current location, which is next to the Yerevan city hall, in April 2007.
The article describes the six-floor and 30002m. structure, the exhibition halls and the displayed items in each. It notes that in order to attract more visitors and give i further exposure the museum has organized several conferences, published booklets on the museum and special issues focusing on the renowned families of Yerevan, songs and poems dedicated to Yerevan, and the city's chronology. The museum treasures over 98,000 historical items, of which some are displayed in the permanent exhibition hall, while the items in other halls are changed periodically.
The author notes that the museum tour with a guide takes between 60 and 90 minutes.
