dc.description.abstract	The author highlights literary concerns that were raised by the Paris-based Armenian literary critic, poet, writer and scholar Arshag Chobanian and which evolved into a set of interesting literary discussions on Eastern and Western Armenian literary aesthetic issues. Based on a number of articles that were written as a response and counter response to Chobanian’s article, the author concludes that these were the very first discussions that looked in earnest at the concerns of Eastern and Western Armenian literature, both current and forthcoming.
