| dc.description.abstract | During the five years that followed the centenary of the Genocide perpetrated against the Armenians by Turkey, certain developments took place: a) The President of the Republic of Armenia, Serge Sarkessian, considered the Turkish-Armenian protocols null and void in March 2018, as Turkey had not refrained them After the "velvet revolution" Prime Minister Nigol Pashinian declared September 2019 that "Turkey remains a serious threat for the security of the Armenian nation, as they have not recognized the Armenian Genocide." His fears were realized in the war of aggression of Azerbaijian, heavily supported and guided by Turkey, during the 44-day war on Artsakh from September 27 to November 9, 2020 In his new book, Turkish historian Taner Akcam proved beyond doubt that Ottoman Interior Minister Talaat's genocidal telegrams, as reported by Aram Andonian, were authentic. The article narrates these developments in the context of the ongoing history of the Armenian Genocide. Likewise, it focuses on the continuing process of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. The author notes that between 2016 and 2020 Germany, the Andean parliament of South America, the Czech Republic, the provisional government of Libya, Portugal, Syria, and both the US House of Representatives and Senate recognized the Armenian genocide Finally, the article mentions the declarations made by Armenia's leaders and the retort of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Sevres, signed on August 10, 1920. | |
