Abstract
The inscriptions on the walls of the Armenian churches and monasteries of Ani of the 10*h-14th centuries tell us reliable facts not only about the political events of the time, but also about the noblewomen's activities. Having power, influential positions, great sums of money and the full right to dispose of it in their own way, they initiated and fulfilled the construction and redecoration of religious and secular buildings. By means of their money and assistance the religious institutions acquired a great deal of real estate and movable property and the profits gained from them.
