dc.description.abstractBread was the most important foodstuff for the whole population of the Armenian Plateau and a typical ethnic indicator of national character. It was baked everywhere, with different cereals, in various ways, types and forms. The attitude towards bread was very unique. Cultivation of the grain, baking, storage and use were treated differently. Bread was considered to be sacred. It was food, power, consolation and a symbol of family wealth. It was of great importance during wedding and funeral ceremonies. It was symbolized life from birth to death.
