| dc.description.abstract | The article covers the relationship between the Social Democratic Hunchakian Party (SDHP) and the Communist (Third) International from 1919 to 1943. Since the author believes that these relations were pre-determined to some extent by the thorny relations between the SDHP and the Russian Social-Democratic (later Bolshevik and Communist) Party, the first part of the study deals with these links as well. The author explains the desire of the SDHP to join the Comintern as a separate entity and contrasts it to the desire of the Communists to dissolve the SDHP both inside the USSR and outside within the structures of the local Communist parties. The various outcomes of the negotiations conducted between the two sides are narrated based on previously untapped primary documents. The forced dissolution of the SDHP inside the USSR and the failure of similar attempts in the USA are also analyzed in detail. | |
