| dc.description.abstract | The educational and cultural revival initiated by Movses Datevatsi in the monastery of Harants or Suniats Medz Anabad spilled over into the region as of the early 17th century, particularly in the art of manuscripts. One of the areas influenced by this wave was Korayk-Koris, which was located in the valley of Tsaketsor. Indeed, the art of manuscripts developed to such an extent from the 1720s to 1770 that Koris-Korayk became a unique center renowned for its illuminators and scribes. The article focuses on one of the most talented illuminators and scribes of Korayk- Koris, Movses Yerets Korisetsi. The author examines the books Movses Yerets copied and illuminated, describes and evaluates them and constructs his biography and life, putting together the very scant information that Movses Yerets had noted on the margins of his copied books and their colophons. | |
