Abstract
The Russian writer Feodor Feodorovich Tyutchev’s (1860–1916) novel, Beglets, was written in 1902. Strangely enough, however, the Armenian characters and Armenian related topics of the novel have gone unnoticed by literary historians.
Hpvakimyan unravels the Armenian aspect of the novel, noting that the events take place partly in Armenia, where Tyutchev served as a Russian soldier on the Russo-Persian border of Erivan province. She briefly outlines the biography of Tyutchev and highlights his broad knowledge of Transcaucasia, its peoples and habits, which generated vivid descriptions and characters in Beglets.
