Abstract
This study reviews and assesses post-Soviet Armenian historiography output from a current perspective. It includes the factors that led to the proclamation of independence in 1918, the nationwide steps taken for the realization of the idea of an independent and united Armenia, the political orientation adopted by the state leaders preserving the tiny, weak state, and the domestic and foreign factors that impacted its growth and preservation and influenced Armenian unity.
