Բառերուն միւս երեսը

Abstract
The article is a deep delving into the real meanings of some of the Armenian words, as they were according to the feelings and thoughts of the early Armenian and as it has been kept in the early classical Armenian usage. Though at times some words have kept their original and primordial content most of them have undergone certain changes in concept. Father Granian tries to present a number of Armenian words in his study which had and have a direct bearing on human being and intellectual and spiritual expression and thus present a basic outlook of the Armenian people. The article pertains to the early Armenian's 1. The concept of belief։ Here Granian examines the inner content of the Armenian words aprim (to be free of danger, to live), kiam (to be, to proceed), voghch (alive, completion), kal, kam (to exist, alive), gol (to be and exist), and linim (let it be, let it come, to existence from nothing to something). 2. The concept of teleological end: the Armenian words polorem (to complete a circle or a span of life), katarem (to reach to the summit or acme), and avartem (to end or finish by consummation, and to begin anew) are related not to the concept of life but rather to the ending of it. 3. The concept of thought and meditation: the author examines imanam (to make one's own, to take or to hold, to create the image of something in the mind), embernem (to hold in hand, to bring something to one's own self, to understand, to make the image of), haskanam (to understand something through mental growth and maturing). 4. The concept of owning: Granian analyzes the Armenian words oonim (to own something by holding in hand, to hold) to conclude that oonim presents the realistic aspect of the human character. 5. The concept of endurance: here the author tries to bring forth the initial content of hambérém (to accept one's own difficulties and own them, and the individual bearing of problems and difficulties), krem (in the active, the root kir of krem means to make use of, while in passive, to submit, to carry other's burden; in both cases the content of krem is substantive, though now it has lost that character and has garbed itself with a purely spiritual content), barnam (to carry and help, to lift up), vératzeném (to lift upwards and make vanish, to ascend and be lost of sight, to soar up spiritually), and danim (to carry away or out, to endure). Father Granian concludes that the formation of any people's language is as important as its anthropotomy, though that people is not always the result of anthropotomy, but also of a spiritual collectivity, group feeling and collective reaction and depiction. Moreover, he holds that his article does not directly deal with the etymology of words, but rather by analyzing the roots of some Armenian words endeavours to open their inner sanctuary and bring forth not only their primordial meaning and sense, but also the general outlook the first Armenian had pertaining to life, and death, and towards the world and universe.
