Abstract
Against the backdrop of the presence of Armenians in the city of Ghuba, the study focuses on the demographic history of the Armenian community of Ghuba in the 19th century. The study notes that the Armenians of Ghuba city had their own quarter, a distinguished presence and had generated a relatively separate sociocultural environment with their church and school. They were mostly famous for the development of the traditional Armenian dye, Toron, which was used in the local production of Armenian Ghuba rugs. However, the positive Armenian contribution to the city was halted by the persecution and massacres by the newly proclaimed independent state of Azerbaidjan in 1918.
