| dc.description.abstract | Not all the fairy tales of Msho Gegham, the western Armenian author, have the characteristic features of fairy tales. Notwithstanding the fact that his tales are not necessarily based on real events, mixture of the real fiction featured in these tales conveys such feelings to the reader. Reading his fairy tales one may encounter folk myths, legends, curses, prayers and traditional rituals in a real setting. Thus the expressions of the late 19th century traditional and folk mindset are intertwined with the human concerns of everyday life of the same period. This combination of the legendary and the real generates the characteristic features of Gegham's fairy tales. | |
