Abstract
A set of 14 letters written by the Armenian Genocide victim, scholar, activist and Ottoman Parliament member Dr. Nazareth Daghavarian to the renowned Armenian writer Zabel Yessayan are published here.
These letters shed light on contacts established between Turkish liberals and Armenian scholars of the time and their discourse, intra-Armenian scholarly conflicts, efforts for the propagation of the Armenian General Benevolent Union in France, details of Dr. Daghavarian's escape from Constantinople after being persecuted by the Ottoman authorities, etc.
The letters disclose a secret about a book supposedly published in France under the pseudonym "Ardzruni." In one of his letters to Yessayan, Daghavarian states that he wrote and published a book in Cairo (yet printed in it Paris as its place of printing). However, to avoid any persecution, he asked whether he could ship the books to her in order for her to disseminate them.
