Abstract
Paruyr Muratyan focuses in this study on what he argues are the three most important editions of Movses Khorenstsi's History: Venice, 1858: Tiflis (now, Tbilisi), 1913; and Yerevan, 1991. These editions have taken into account the first scientific text of Khorenatsi's History, based on the comparison of various manuscripts, published in Venice in 1858. Manuk Abeghian and Seth Harutiunian compared this edition with additional manuscripts before publishing their scientific version of Khoronatsi's History in Tiflis in 1913. This 1913 edition was republished in Yerevan in 1991, together with an addendum that highlighted newly accessible manuscripts of Khorenatsi’s History, Muradian draws attention in this article to the exceptional value of Nerses Lambronatsi’s own manuscript copy of Khorenatsi's History. After making a number of important textual comparisons, Muradian argues that there is still work to be done in the long run to reconstruct the original version of Khorenatsi's History.
